Field Day: Bowie & Crofton Area
A local hub of Charlotte Mason families focused on building community through regular gatherings. Our field days provide opportunities for children of all ages (from babies to teens) to enjoy informal activities while mothers connect with like-minded families.
Location: White Marsh Park, 100 White Marsh Park Dr, Bowie, MD 20716
Dates: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays
Time: 1–3pm September–April (Meetings are in the mornings May–August)
Optional Nature Study: Meet at 12:30 near the trails for casual nature walk/journaling. Extension of whatever you're studying at home - no formal instruction.
Field day is the heart of our community, a place to get outside with accountability and socialize while children enjoy free play. For families interested in deeper connection, our community has grown to include a monthly recitation group, Mother Culture Quarterly gatherings, Kalos Co-op, and various social gatherings and field trips throughout the year.

Mother Culture Quarterly
A seasonal evening gathering for mothers, a night of pedagogy, practice, and play. Each quarter features discussion of Charlotte Mason principles alongside a hands-on activity. Details for the upcoming gathering are shared with the community as the date approaches.

Kalos Co-Op
Kalos Co-op is a twice-monthly cooperative for Charlotte Mason families, currently serving Kinderleben through Form 3 (Middle School/Ages 12-14), with a nursery available for younger siblings. Each session includes Truth, Beauty & Goodness (hymn, folk song, poetry, picture study, and composer study), form group work covering subjects like science, history, and literature, and a scouting block with rotating subjects like handicrafts, nature study, geography, and more. Mothers stay onsite, share in the teaching, and are lifelong learners alongside our children and one another.
Joining Kalos happens through established personal relationship as an extension of existing community, and is not a standalone program or open enrollment; Kalos is built together, and we prioritize families invested in growing it with us.
We'd love to connect with other Maryland leaders, and with moms considering starting their own co-op, to share ideas and the successes and struggles of building together.
